Hymans Robertson strengthens partnership team as a result of Club Vita success

Hymans Robertson, the UK’s leading independent experts in benefits and investment, is pleased to announce the appointment of two new partners from its sister company Club Vita, the only company dedicated to providing longevity services to occupational pension schemes, launched  by Hymans Robertson in 2008.

The new partners are:

• Nick Flint, Chief Executive of Club Vita
• Andrew Gaches, Longevity Consultant, Club Vita

Club Vita was created to give pension schemes and sponsoring companies robust insight into and certainty over longevity risks, enabling better governance and risk management of pension schemes. There are currently more than 70 members from both the public and private sectors, including BP, Daily Mail and West Yorkshire Pension Fund.

Ronnie Bowie, Senior Partner at Hymans Robertson, comments:
“In 2008 we recognised that longevity was the biggest unmanaged risk for pension schemes and there was a need for pension funds, and their sponsoring companies, to have better sources of longevity information and expertise to be able to manage those risks effectively.

“These new partner appointments reflect the success of Nick, Andrew and the rest of the team in establishing Club Vita as the leading provider of longevity services for pension schemes.

“Organisations need to pay attention to longevity data otherwise they face unnecessary costs or fail to make easy savings. Meeting pensions obligations is a huge burden for many organisations in the current climate. Club Vita’s data analysis has shown the majority of schemes either under-reserve or over-reserve, sometimes by as much as five percent, which equates to £50 million in a £1 billion scheme. This is putting unnecessary strain on an organisations’ financial health.  Club Vita’s unique service provides greater certainty of the risks a pension scheme can present, eliminating nasty surprises for employers as well as providing more security for scheme members."

Both Nick and Andrew joined Club Vita in 2008.
